UKVRSIG Internet Services
=========================
The SIG runs a anonymous FTP/Gopher server at Internet address eta.lut.ac.uk (158.125.96.29). This contains VR information, demo software, pictures of VR systems and other VR-related materials.
You can also access the SIG's server - and other information - via the World Wide Web. The URL is http:/pipkin.lut.ac.uk/WWWdocs/LUTCHI/people/sean/vr-sig/vr-sig.html.
Postings to the e-mailing list are archived at gopher://nisp.ncl.ac.uk/11/lists-u-z/ukvrsig.
Since it seems like it is not totally clear, let me explain here how exactly the mailing list is set-up:
Mailing list address: sig-wtk@ptolemy.arc.nasa.gov
This goes to EVERYBODY on the list, so please use only when addressing the whole community.
Requests: sig-wtk-request@ptolemy.arc.nasa.gov
To send subscribe/unsubscribe requests, changes of address.
Administrator/owner of the list: owner-sig-wtk@ptolemy.arc.nasa.gov
This goes to the administrator personally. Use this address to send suggestions, questions, complaints or anything that is not meant to be sent to the whole community.
Also, let me take this opportunity to remind you of the address of the anonymous FTP server: artemis.arc.nasa.gov
This server is set up to accept only one connection at a time, to avoid congestion, especially during office hours. Please be patient in case your connection is refused.
The whole mailing list is set-up manually. I am still thinking about installing a automated mailing list server, but need CPU/administrator time to do so.
I hope this will help. Please feel free to send me any questions/suggestions/complaints...
Laurent Piguet.
The Virtual Worlds list exists for the discussion of the creative and Intellectual possibilities of "Virtual Worlds."
We will not be restrictive in our definition of a what a virtual world is. In fact, that could be one of the main areas of discussion!
The only thing I would like to avoid, for the moment, are some of the technical aspects. Mainly because technical discussion tend to stiffle the artistic ones because of their insistence on "reality." Lets forget reality for a little while and dream!
